Kirk Knight has been hinting at the arrival of his debut solo release for much of 2015, and now the Pro Era rapper/producer has officially unveiled the details. His first proper offering goes by the name of Late Knight Special, and it comes our way October 30 via Pro Era/Cinematic Music.
The record follows Knight's beatwork on fellow Beast Coast bud Joey Bada$$'s 2015 LP B4.Da.$$, including single "Big Dusty." Knight had also worked on Bada$$ releases Summer Knights and 1999, and made verbal and producer appearances on Pro Era team tapes like The Shift and P.E.E.P: The aPROcalypse.
A press release promises plenty of "grit and ruggedness" from the rapper/producer. Inspiration was apparently drawn from J Dilla, Madlib, Kanye West and the Notorious B.I.G., with Late Knight Special said to bounce effortlessly from "smooth melodies to raw, uncut sounds."
Though a tracklisting has not yet been delivered, last night (August 27) saw the debut of a new Knight tune, which he produced, called "Knight Time." You can hear the nocturnal new number down below. The set is also expected to include recent singles "Brokeland" and "Give 'Em."
As previously reported, Knight will join the Underachievers on their fall tour, which includes stops in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. You'll find the date and venue specifics over here.
