In the last couple of years, Prince has kept busy by releasing albums, producing for other artists, and dropping in and out of social media. Now, the Purple One has announced his latest project: a single inspired by the recent riots in Baltimore.
The new song is a tribute to the people of Baltimore, but it also apparently addresses a string of similar incidents in which civil unrest has been stirred up due to African-American men dying at the hands of law enforcement
A statement from Prince explains the new single like this:
Prince has just recorded a new song that addresses the unrest in Baltimore and the socio/political issues around the country in the wake of a slew of killings of young black men. The song is a tribute to all of the people of the city of Baltimore. Release plans for the song, which was recorded this week at Paisley Park, have not yet been announced.
The message was sent out with the above image attached. Fans should stay tuned, as presumably the song could arrive at any moment.
