Some Torontonians evidently don't consider Action Bronson to be Mr. Wonderful, since a petition has been launched with the aim of putting a stop to the rapping foodie's upcoming free show at Yonge-Dundas Square for NXNE.
The gig is scheduled to take place on June 21. The petition opposes Bronson's appearance on the grounds that he "glorifies gang-raping women." The write-up that accompanies the petition criticizes the rapper's "violent misogyny" and argues that his song "Consensual Rape" constitutes "hate speech."
That track includes lines like "Then dig your shorty out 'cause I geeked her up on molly / Have her eating dick, no need for seasoning / If seven dudes are in the room then she's pleasing them / Like a trooper, hit her in the pooper, throw her in the shower then I take her out to Lupa." Hear the song below.
According to the campaign, having Bronson perform a sponsored event on public grounds is "an insult to the people of Toronto." Not surprisingly, the image that accompanies the petition is the album cover from the 2013 EP Saaab Stories (which shows Bronson standing over a scantily clad woman on her knees in front of the toilet).
The petition is seeking a modest 100 signatures, and it's already more than halfway to the goal. Check it out here and see Bronson's full tour schedule below.
