Montreal musician Pat Jordache has been a fixture on the city's noise pop scene for years. While he used to perform with shambolic popsters Sister Suvi, once bandmate Merrill Garbus took off to the West Coast to concentrate on her tUnE-yArDs project, Jordache felt compelled to take the solo route himself. The performer is now ready to release his album proper, dubbed Future Songs, this spring.
While tunes that make up Future Songs were initially released on cassette and up on Bandcamp, Jordache will unveil Future Songs April 26 on Constellation. According to the press release, the album is said to present "brilliant off-kilter pop, anchored by woozy baritone vocals, angular guitar lines and a gloriously careening approach to rhythm and arrangement."
Many songs adhere to a solo-songwriting aesthetic that employs a number of loop pedals to present Jordache's vivid soundscapes. From the Beach Boys-by-way-of-Afrobeat "Salt on the Fields" to the lo-fi folk of "Gold Bound" to the octave-shifted choir on "Get It (I Know You're Going To)," Future Songs is being promoted as a wonderfully out-there pop collection.
While his recordings are generally solo, Jordache does have a backing band and will be taking them on the road for a trip, which finds him liking up with old pal Garbus and her tUnE-yArDs. All dates are listed below.

1. "Radio Generation"
