Fans can always count on Halifax's OBEY Convention to present a unique lineup of adventurous musical acts, and the 2015 edition looks to be no exception. This is the festival's eighth instalment, and it will take place from May 21 to 24.
Notably, German free jazz pioneer Peter Brötzmann will share a bill with Last Lizard, which is the new alias of ex-Dirty Beaches experimenter Alex Zhang Hungtai. Fans can expect Last Lizard's set to offer "transcendental tape and saxophone meditation."
Beyond that, the festival will feature appearances from Absolutely Free, Homeshake, Noveller, Container, RAMZi, You'll Never Get to Heaven and Gashrat.
The lineup will be expanded with 21 additional acts, to be announced later this month. These artists will appear at clubs, halls, underground spaces and other venues throughout Halifax.
Early bird passes to OBEY Convention VIII are available here for $69. Additionally, tickets for the Brötzmann/Last Lizard double-bill at Fort Massey United Church on May 22 can be purchased here for $26.50.
