Nick Cave Toasted in New Toy Series

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jul 2, 2015

It may be time to start believing in an interventionist god, as a new toy series is putting various vinyl figures based on the likeness of Nick Cave into our arms this summer. At the very least, we can thank toymaker/artist Plasticgod for the punfully good playtime collection.

Teaming up with 3DRetro, the Los Angeles-based Plasticgod has prepped six figures for the upcoming Comic Con in San Diego. Each six-inch vinyl doll is modeled after the singer's likeness and lyric book. For instance, the "Red Right Hand" figurine, as seen up above, fits Cave with a crimson claw.

As you'll see down below, the "Tupelo" doll displays the beastly "big black cloud" that came rumbling through its namesake location. The "Ship Song" figurine literally sails ships around the miniaturized Cave's body, while the lighthouse-adorned "Into My Arms" variation seems fit for boatmen of any calling.

There are also two particularly punny versions of the "Babe, You Turn Me On" figurine, one of which being glow-in-the-dark.

The dolls go up for sale July 9 at Comic Con, at $40 USD a pop. Only 200 of each variant has been made, so hopefully some of these escape the clutches of the Comic Con crowd.

If Plasticgod ends up crafting a second series, may we suggest it start with a Colt .45-packin', Stetson hat-wearing "Stagger Lee?"

Thanks to Pitchfork for the tip.
