Nate Ruess

"What This World Is Coming To"

Nate Ruess (of fun.) and Beck previously teamed up on-stage to pay tribute to Lou Reed, and now they've linked up once again, this time for a track off the former's upcoming solo album.

"What This World Is Coming To" showcases Ruess' signature earnest drama with a folk rock twist. It begins with simple acoustic strums before swelling with grand crescendos, some celestial synth flourishes and synchronized electric guitar leads. Beck's voice appears prominently in the harmonies.

Ruess said in a statement, "Working with, and getting a chance to learn from Beck has been an incredible experience. Not only does he put more studio time in than anyone I know, his back catalogue of musical references is unattainable to us mere mortals. I'd let it slide — but he also happens to be a wonderful person and family man to boot. Did I mention his guitar chops? Here's hoping we get another chance to work together soon. I won't act like I'm texting while I'm nervously filming him shred."

Ruess' album Grand Romantic will be out on June 16 through Fueled by Ramen.
