Miguel

"Hey" (Slaves cover) (live video)

Though Miguel has a whole new album to promote, the California R&B crooner used a trip to BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge to deliver a cover of UK punk duo Slaves' "Hey." You can watch a video of Miguel and his backup band tearing apart the original right now.

The in-studio performance replaces the energized drum work of Slaves' Issac Holman with a reserved, halftime clack of a drum pad, but manages to hang on to song's menacing, highly distorted guitar lines.

Miguel being Miguel, he opts out of the viciously snarled approach to instead lay out his lines velvet-soft. It gives the cautionary cut, about a bunch of rowdy kids ready to "tear you apart," a much different feel, as you'll discover down below.

Miguel's Wildheart, meanwhile, hits stores June 30 ByStorm Entertainment/RCA Records. He heads out on a summer tour soon, and you'll find all of the North American show info here.
