Members of Canadian rock'n'roll favourites Constantines, Holy Fuck and METZ have come together to form a new supergroup called LIDS.
The lineup features Holy Fuck's Brian Borcherdt (on guitar, vocals and beats) METZ's Alex Edkins (on bass and back-up vocals) and Constantines' Doug MacGregor (on drums).
In the most Canadian of ways, the band's debut single is titled "Sarsfest" — paying tribute to the apparently not-forgotten massive outdoor benefit concert that was held to boost Toronto's post-2002-SARS-outbreak public image.
The track itself is a psychedelic synth- and bass-heavy cut with warbling, echoing vocals and a chugging backbeat. It will be getting released as a 7-inch on March 17 via Telephone Explosion. You can pre-order copies here.
For now, though, grab a surgical mask and give "Sarsfest" a listen below.
