Matthew Herbert Plots 'The Shakes'

In 2014, electronic explorer Matthew Herbert brought back his house-oriented mononym Herbert for a few EPs. This year, however, he's back to using his full name for a full-length called The Shakes. It will be coming out through Caroline International.

While the producer has released plenty of music in recent years, The Shakes is being billed as the proper follow-up to his 2006 album Scale. It seems, then, that this will be a dance-oriented record rather than something along the lines of his esoteric pieces of sound design.

Michael Roe of Caroline International said in a statement [via Music Week], "We are over the moon to be working with such an incredibly unique talent as Matthew. He embodies the true sense of the word artist and has produced a body of music that has not been off the hi-fi at Caroline since we got it."

The album's release date hasn't yet been announced, but Herbert will apparently play some material from The Shakes at a show at London, UK's Village Underground on March 17. The gig is a collaboration with playwright Duncan Macmillan.
