Matt Epp released his album Learning to Lose Control last spring, but the Winnipeg folk songwriter has now decided to start anew. His EP Luma will be out on October 7.
A press release notes that the short collection "was born on the precipice of both personal and artistic transformation and thus reflects, for Matt, the beginning of a new era." It was made in Toronto this past August.
There are six songs included here, and they're said to represent a rebirth after years of touring a releasing albums. For a taste of what this new beginning sounds like, scroll past his tour schedule below to hear the spacious ambient-folk number "Promised Land."
This fall, Epp and his backing band the Amorian Assembly will hit the studio with producer Rusty Matyas (of Imaginary Cities). They will record a new full-length, due out in 2015.
Tour dates:
10/18 Toronto, ON - The Dakota
10/30 Winnipeg, MB - West End Cultural Centre
11/12 Saskatoon, SK - Hayloft
11/22 Kelowna, BC - Black Box Theatre
