Mark Ronson Scores New Johnny Depp Film 'Mortdecai'

BY Alex HudsonPublished Nov 13, 2014

High-profile producer Mark Ronson has a solo album called Uptown Special due out on January 27, but he's now announced a new project: writing music for the film Mortdecai along with composer Geoff Zanelli.

The film stars Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn, Jeff Goldblum and Paul Bettany. It's being directed by David Koepp (Premium Rush, Ghost Town), and concerns an art dealer in search of a stolen painting that's said to lead to a hidden stash of Nazi gold. It's due out in cinemas on January 23.

Ronson doesn't have a particularly extensive resume in the realm of film scores, but he previously co-wrote the music for the 2011 comedy Arthur.

Zanelli has previously worked with Koepp on films like Ghost Town and Secret Window. There's no word as to when or if his soundtrack with Ronson will be released as an album.

A trailer for the film can be seen below.
