So far in 2014, singer Teri "Gender Bender" Suaréz has been introduced to a whole new audience thanks to Kimono Kult, a band that also features former Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López and ex-Red Hot Chili Pepper John Frusciante. Now, she has returned to her band Le Butcherettes for a new album called Cry Is for the Flies.
The collection will be out on May 15 through Nadie Sound, but fans can get it two weeks early, on May 1, by purchasing the record on Bandcamp. If you buy it now, you'll get three singles from the album — "Burn the Scab," "Demon Stuck in Your Eye" and "Your Weakness Gives Me Life" — and receive the bonus cut "Blackhead."
Those four songs — which take an arty, jagged approach to distorted garage rock — are streaming below. They cost $4, and buyers will receive the album for free once it's available.
A vinyl release is reportedly to follow in June. That's the album cover up above.
