While we have to wait until the new year to spin copies of King Khan & BBQ Show's Bad News Boys, their first set of oldies-style rock-and-roll in over five years, you can check out a few cuts ahead of time via a live video of a KEXP radio appearance.
Captured during their fall tour with the Black Lips, the in-studio appearance at the Seattle station found the pair, dressed in matching, nipple-exposing superhero costumes, cranking out punky sock hop songs. New tune "Illuminations" is rife with rattle snake hi-hats and rag-tag riffs rocking beneath Khan's raspy cries and papa-oom-mow-mows. BBQ (a.k.a. Mark Sultan) showcases his doo-wop falsetto on the speedy "Alone Again," a tear-jerker overflowing frosted malts with its major-minor chord shifts.
You'll find those and the rest of the four-song set, as well as a lengthy interview, down below.
UPDATE: A stream of the studio version of "Alone Again" has now also been put up online.
Bad News Boys arrives February 24 through In the Red Records.
