Kid Cudi Joins 'Comedy Bang Bang'

Rapper Kid Cudi will join mock talk show Comedy Bang Bang this summer as its new musical co-star.

The Scott Aukerman-hosted television program recently revealed plans to bring the Cudder on board following the departure of the cast's previous musical leader Reggie Watts. As previously reported, Watts is about to make his exit from the program to be the band leader of the new Late Late Show with James Corden, which debuts March 23. Watts remains with Comedy Bang Bang until June 5.

Kid Cudi officially makes his debut on July 10, but he's set to appear in an upcoming episode on February 20. The episode, titled "Kid Cudi Wears a Denim Shirt and Red Sneakers," will apparently have the rapper discussing the art of prank calls with Aukerman.

In a statement, host Aukerman said of his upcoming cast mate, "When he was on the couch, I knew he had charisma and star quality, but I thought he should move slightly camera right. Plus, my wife and I have been trying to have a kid for several years, and this is the next best thing."

Comedy Bang Bang airs on IFC in the U.S. and is rebroadcast in Canada via MuchMusic.
