Reggie Watts Named Bandleader for 'Late Late Show with James Corden'

Reggie Watts is both a comedian and musician, and the big-haired funnyman is going to be making the best of both of those talents in his new gig as the bandleader of the new Late Late Show with James Corden.

Current Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson will be exiting the CBS program on December 19, with British actor and comedian Corden — known for UK shows like Gavin & Stacey and The Wrong Mans — taking over on March 23. We're guessing that Watts will serve as Corden's sidekick and comic foil, which is typical of late-night band leaders.

This isn't Watts' first stint as an on-air bandleader, since he also provided the music for Comedy Bang! Bang!; check out a compilation of his music from that show below. It's unclear if Watts will have a full house band, or if he will be performing alone.

In its mix of music and comedy, this hiring reminds us a bit of the Late Night with Seth Meyers' decision to go with Fred Armisen as a bandleader.

In the months between Ferguson's exit and Corden's arrival, there will be a string of guest hosts like Judd Apatow, Will Arnett, Drew Carey, Jim Gaffigan and John Mayer.
