The BET Awards were on tonight (June 28), and Compton rap genius Kendrick Lamar won the award for Best Male Hip Hop Artist. He also performed his To Pimp a Butterfly track "Alright," and this live rendition can be seen now.
The staging was lavish, as Lamar rapped while standing atop a police car while flanked by a troupe of backup dancers and a massive, billowing American flag. He eventually came out to the front of the stage, spitting fire over the jazzy backing track until the arrangement was transformed during an ominous final passage.
