Back in the fall, Rolling Stones axe man Keith Richards confirmed that he had completed work on his first solo studio album since 1992's Main Offender. Now, details of the record's release have been revealed.
The album is titled Crosseyed Heart and it's due out on September 18. The first single "Trouble" is expected to arrive on July 17 via Republic Records.
As previously reported, the forthcoming LP was produced by Steve Jordan, who co-produced Richards' two previous solo albums and was a member of his band the X-Pensive Winos. Other contributors include guitarist and fellow X-Pensive Wino Waddy Wachtel, Rolling Stones backup singer Bernard Fowler, keyboardist Ivan Neville and singer Sarah Dash.
Norah Jones steps in to duet with Richards on "Illusion," Spooner Oldham appears on "Lovers Plea," Larry Campbell plays on "Robbed Blind" and Aaron Neville lends his talent to "Nothing on Me." Finally, rounding out the star-studded supporting cast, work by the late Rolling Stones saxophone player Bobby Keys also appears on a couple of tracks.
Richards, meanwhile, mans the electric and acoustic guitars, bass and piano throughout the record.
As for the future of the Rolling Stones, Richards hinted that the band might be returning to the studio once their current 'Zip Code' tour wraps.
"We're talking about doing some recording after this tour, but there's nothing definite. We just threw out the idea. I'd like to get the boys back in the studio again, yeah. Anything can happen," Richards said [via Rolling Stone]. "I'd like to see just how far they can evolve. I have no demands or particular visions for them, but you're just part of this thing and I want to see how far it will go."
