Once again, things have gotten even worse for disgraced former CBC radio personality Jian Ghomeshi. Three more women have just come forward in the criminal case, and the onetime Q host is now facing three new charges of sexual assault.
These new charges come in addition to four previous sexual assault counts and a charge of overcoming resistance by choking. The new charges were read in court this morning (January 8). A total of six women are now laying charges in the criminal case.
The new alleged assaults are said to have happened in August 2002 (in Owen Sound), July 2003 (in Toronto) and February 2008 (also in Toronto). A publication ban has been placed on the identities of the complainants.
Ghomeshi didn't speak to reporters outside the courthouse, but his lawyer Marie Henein confirmed that the 47-year-old will plead not guilty. As before, his bail conditions force him to surrender his passport, live at his mother's house and remain in Ontario.
Ghomeshi's next court appearance will be on February 4. His lawyer is reportedly expected to appear on his behalf.
