Just a few months after Jenn Grant brought out Buck 65 for a song on her Clairvoyant EP, the Canadian singer-songwriter has announced a new album featuring their "Spades" and additional collaborations with the likes of Ron Sexsmith, Sarah Harmer and more.
Titled Compostela, the album arrives October 21 through Grant's new label home, Outside Music. The artist tracked the set alongside producer/husband Daniel Ledwell at their Nova Scotia studio. A press release explains that the album is marked with "psychedelic folk" and the sounds of Spanish guitar, the latter owing to a trip to Barcelona in 2012. Additionally, the fifth full-length from Grant mixes flutes, harps, violins, congas, Wurlitzer, piano and lap steel into its 13-song tracklist.
Beyond the Buck 65-assisted "Spades," Compostela finds Grant joined by a number of notable artists including Harmer, Sexsmith, Rose Cousins, Don Kerr, Kim Harris, Stewart Legere, Justin Rutledge and Rachel Sermanni. A crowd at Wakefield, QC's Black Sheep Inn are also credited on "Spanish Moon," while Grant's brother adds vocals and charango to the set.
