J Mascis Issues Digital Solo Album For Charity

BY Josiah HughesPublished Nov 21, 2008

Way back in 2005, Dinosaur Jr. front-man J Mascis released J + Friends Sing + Chant for Amma, a solo album with all proceeds benefiting Indian spiritual guru, and J’s personal hero, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. Known as Amma, and often referred to as "the hugging saint,” Devi has helped millions with her many charitable efforts.

Now, the album is hitting digital stores, with the proceeds again set to help Amma’s efforts toward world peace. Due December 2 from Mascis’s Baked Goods label, the digital version of the album offers nothing new but still contains all the good karma of a charitable donation, plus his unmistakable riffage.

J + Friends Sing + Chant for Amma tracklisting:

1. "Please Remember That I'm Here”
2. "Help Me Amma”
3. "Lokah”
4. "Take Me Home”
5. "Amma What Now?”
6. "Heavy Metal Ai Giri Nandini”
