Toronto rapper Ian Kamau is breathing new life into a handful of tracks from his 2011 LP One Day Soon, having tapped U.S. soul figure Georgia Anne Muldrow to contribute to the Heading Home remix EP.
The three song re-envisioning starts off with the title cut, which has been modified by toning down the original's frizz-fried direction in favour of a mostly organic groove. Muldrow adds to the tune with a booming vocal hook about "trying to get ahead" in a complicated world.
Elsewhere, Muldrow delivers an ambient and airy remix of Kamau's introspective "The Village," and likewise scrapes buzzy electronic instrumentation out of "Traffic."
