Husky

"Ruckers Hill"

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 4, 2015

Aussie pop band Husky used to be signed to Sub Pop, but now they've inked a deal with Nevado in North America, and with the album Ruckers Hill due out on June 2, they've shared the title track.

The song is named after a hill that frontman Husky Gawenda used to use as a city lookout. It's a reflective, nostalgic tune with lush harmonies and a dramatic arrangement that builds up urgently in its second half.

The album was co-produced by the band's Gawenda and Gideon Preiss along with Wayne Connolly. It was primarily mixed by U.S. indie guru Phil Ek (which might explain the Fleet Foxes influences in "Ruckers Hill"), and Peter Katis also helped out with a track.
