Grateful Dead's 'Three from the Vault' Live Album Gets Vinyl Reissue

It's the Grateful Dead's 50th anniversary this year, and as the surviving members of the legendary jam band say goodbye with some farewell shows and a documentary, one of their classic live shows is getting a vinyl reissue through Light in the Attic's Future Days Recordings imprint. Three from the Vault will be available on March 24.

This live set was recorded at Port Chester, NY's Capitol Theatre in 1971. At the time, drummer Mickey Hart had temporarily left the band, leaving the five-piece lineup of Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Ron "Pigpen" McKernan and Bill Kreutzmann.

This was the second gig in a six-show run at the Capitol Theatre. They played 20 tunes, which were professionally recored on multitrack tape and mixed down decades later. The album was originally released on CD in 2007, and this four-LP version is the first vinyl pressing. It's been newly mastered.

This completes Light in the Attic's trilogy of Grateful Dead live albums. In the last couple of years, the label has also reissued One from the Vault and Two from the Vault. Three from the Vault is available separately, or in a bundle with the other two albums, right here.
