We've already seen YouTube's year-end report regarding its most popular videos, and now the service's parent company Google has revealed which musicians were most popular among its searchers.
The lists of trending musicians are organized by country. Here in Canada, the most-searched-for musician was Iggy Azalea (who also topped the U.S. list). Rounding out the top five were Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj and Lorde, proving that 2014 was a year in which female solo acts ruled.

Meanwhile, the top trending Canadian personality was disgraced former CBC host Jian Ghomeshi, who topped the similarly gakwed-at Rob Ford. What's more, Ghomeshi came in at number nine on the list of the Canada's most searched-for topics (coming in just ahead of ALS). Overall, he was Canada's fifth most-searched celebrity (late actors Robin Williams and Phillip Seymour Hoffman topped the list). No wonder we here at Exclaim! named him the top newsmaker.
