Good Riddance Reunite

Politically minded Santa Cruz punkers Good Riddance called it quits back in May 2007, but the act have now made their moniker a bit of a misnomer, as they've just got back together. News of the reunion came from the band themselves, who confirmed that while no real plans have been set in stone, they will be back onstage sometime soon.

With seven full-lengths and countless singles behind them, the band naturally amassed a mighty back catalogue, and according to the group, it's the tunes that brought them back together. A statement, written in the first person though signed by all four members, explains:

"Since that final show I have been asked countless times about getting back together and playing again. I never really considered it an option, seeing as how we'd played our final show ('final' being the key word) and all. When I would ask these people why they wanted us back the most common answer was 'The songs! We miss the songs!' As it turns out we miss them as well."

Good Riddance admit that they've been approached to do reunion gigs in the past, with offers being described as "lucrative," but the reformation is apparently being done on their own terms and not for the sake of some green. Also, any personal beef between the group's members has since been quashed.

The statement continues: "This decision has come from an organic desire to play and hear the material again. Many of the factors which drove our initial decision to call it a day are either water under the bridge or no longer relevant to us. We are not trying to compete with anybody, make a living off the band or build a fan base. We just want to play songs which have meant so much to us and so many others."

Details of the shows will no doubt be delivered sometime in the near future, but right now all the act have revealed is that they will be playing some concerts in 2012 "and perhaps beyond."
