Punk-tinged New Jersey rabble-rousers the Gaslight Anthem released their latest album Get Hurt last year and are about to take it on tour in Europe. But once those dates are done, members Brian Fallon, Ben Horowitz, Alex Levine and Alex Rosamilia have revealed that they will be stepping away from the band.
In a post on the band's Facebook page, the four-piece assured fans that each member would remain active with other projects, but that the Gaslight Anthem as a unit needed some time to recharge rather than "making a record just for the sake of making the next record."
The full farewell-for-now message reads:
Hello all!
We wanted to let everyone know that we'll all be taking a break from The Gaslight Anthem after this next European tour in August. We're all going to do other projects and stay active in some way or another, both in and out of music, but we'd like to step away from the band until we decide what we'd like to do next.
We'd like to recharge and take a step back until we have something we feel excited about rather than going right back to making a record just for the sake of making the next record. We all feel this is the best decision we can make and it feels like the right one for us.
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our band for the last eight years and we'll see you down the road!

Frontman Fallon is a member of the Horrible Crowes and has done film score work, while guitarist Rosamilia also plays with metal band Servitude. Further projects have yet to be announced.
Their final scheduled live show will take place at the UK's Reading Festival on August 30.
