Future

'Monster' (mixtape)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Oct 29, 2014

The time has come for Future to finally reveal just what kind of a Monster he is, as the Atlanta rapper has just delivered his mixtape of the same name.

We'd been getting previews from the freelease even ahead of its announcement, with the AutoTuned rhymer having dropped his ultra-aggressive "Monster" single back in the summer. More recently, we were treated to sneak peeks of the faux-flute fluttering pop-rap track "Break the Rules" and the mournful tribute to fallen Freebandz Gang friend Double D, "Hardly."

Executive produced by Metro Boomin and hosted by DJ Esco, the 16-track mixtape also includes a feature from Lil Wayne on "After That." Extra beats are supplied by the likes of TM-88, Southside, DJ Spinz and more.

Future puts the crush on us via the oppressive, speaker-splitter "Codeine Crazy," wraps a bandanna around his dome and starts shouting "Thug Life" on the tributary "2pac," and delivers dopeboy balladry on "My Savages."
