Since releasing their 2014 full-length Glass Boys, Toronto punk mainstays Fucked Up have offered up releases like 7-inch singles featuring outtakes from the album and Mixtape 5. Well, now they've announced plans to continue their ongoing Zodiac 12-inch EP series, with Year of the Hare set to arrive on June 16 via Deathwish. It follows 2014's Year of the Dragon and marks the seventh in the series overall.
It was recorded over a two-year period at Electrical Audio, Key Club Studios and Candle Studios, and features two new tracks. The title track is described by a press release as "21-minute epic that frantically mixes traditional instrumentation, piano, synths, flutes and sax, experimental editing, soundscapes, and guest vocals from the great Isla Craig into one dizzying experience."
As for the flip side, it features the eight-minute long "California Cold," combining elements of melodic punk and psychedelic rock "in the most, well, Fucked Up way possible."
While we await the arrival of the new 12-inch, relive The Year of the Dragon below.
