Fear Factory Announce New 'Genexus' LP

Long-running industrial metal outfit Fear Factory have scared up enough new material for a ninth full-length album. The L.A. outfit's newly announced Genexus will be shipped out of the Nuclear Blast plant for an August 7 release.

The album follows 2012's The Industrialist, and longtime guitarist Dino Cazares and vocalist Burton C. Bell co-produced the collection with Rhys Fulber. Andy Sneap (Arch Enemy, Testament, Exodus, Machine Head) was tasked with mixing duties.

Cazares and Bell are joined on the LP by drummer Mike Heller and bassist Matt Devries, though the latter revealed at the beginning of the month that he had left the band. Tony Campos is the group's current live bassist.

Neither a tracklisting nor samples have been unveiled behind Genexus, but Cazares said in a statement that that the band's "aggressive, melodic and industrial elements are all intact." Though they tried not to replicate past work, the band are still waving the "cyber metal" flag high, whether via their musical or lyrical approach.

"We are 'cyber metal,' whatever you wanna call it, but it's still a lot of the killer riffs, killer double bass, Burt's beautiful, melodic vocals," Cazares added. "Conceptually, it's always still futuristic, man-versus-machine type of thing, but, you know, we thought we're gonna keep it real, keep it what we are and who we are."

Fear Factory are appearing at the upcoming Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, QC, and have a show coming up in London, ON on August 18. You'll find more details on the upcoming show schedule over here.
