Emilie Mover

'Mighty Time' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Mar 26, 2013

Toronto/New York-based songwriter Emilie Mover recently became the latest addition to the Nevado Records stable of artists in advance of her album Mighty Time. Before that record drops on April 2, you can stream the entire thing at Exclaim.ca.

While past works have found Mover focusing on jazzy coffeehouse sounds, this record is more eclectic and pop-centric. Listeners will find evidence of this new direction in the handclaps and speedy rhythms of "Fishes," the sunny cabaret bounce of "True Love" and the atmospheric catchiness of "See You When." That said, there are also plenty of mellow tunes and sweetly smoky vibes.

These songs were recorded throughout the summer of 2012 at various home studio spaces. They follow a string of non-traditional releases from Mover, including a children's album and a tribute to Peggy Lee.
