The-Dream Announces 'Crown/Jewel' EPs

R&B's love king, The-Dream, has revealed more details behind a pair of EPs following up last summer's Royalty: The Prequel. First up will be Crown, which will be placed into retailers March 31 through Capitol and the singer's own Contra Paris imprint.

Though not all of the details have arrived, the producer/songwriter born Terius Nash has confirmed that the release will come just ahead of another quickie release called Jewel, whose release date has yet to be confirmed.

According to The-Dream, the two sets will show off different sides of his personality, with Crown taking on contemporary sounds and Jewel allegedly finding Nash exploring the kind of songs he'd generally submit to other artists. Apparently, you can't keep The-Dream's musical ambitions under one, ahem, "Umbrella."

"Crown is more modern R&B, and Jewel will be more what you might think of as my songwriter side, the songs I might have given to other artists before," he told Vibe. "If you put me in a box, Jewel is more what you get when that box is open. But I'm not limited by any box I've been put in — every year I'm expanding and growing, and it makes for a more interesting plot."

Crown is currently being teased by the "That's My Shit" single, which features guest vocals from T.I. While the audio had popped up back in December, The-Dream premiered a glitzy set of visuals for the song this week. You'll find the video, set at a sexy masquerade ball, down below.
