Die Antwoord Detail 'TEN$ION,' Unveil Cover Art

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 19, 2011

If there was ever an album cover that's sure to unite the music world in a collective "WTF," it's the artwork for the sophomore LP TEN$ION from shock rappers Die Antwoord. We know that these South Africans had a penchant for the grotesque, but this is a little icky even for them.

This bloody piece of art will arrive on shelves on February 7 via the band's own ZEF Records. As you can see above, the cover shows vocalist Yolandi Visser wearing wings and looking extremely pale as she chows down on a bloody heart while staring deep into your soul with jet-black eyes. Yuck.

Whether intentionally or not, this image definitely brings to mind one of the more memorable scenes from Game of Thrones, which featured the character Daenerys Targaryen eating a horse heart to nourish her "Stallion Who Mounts the World." See what we mean here.

Below, you can also see the tracklist for TEN$ION, as well as the video for album cut "Fok Julle Naaiers." As previously reported, the band also have a North American tour headed our way with a few Canadian dates.

Thanks to Pitchfork for this one.
