Death Grips to Already Reunite for Tour?

What the hell is going on? Doom rappers Death Grips announced their breakup just a few months ago, cancelling a tour with Nine Inch Nails in the process, and now rumours are swirling that they are already reuniting for a tour.

The source of this speculation is the Twitter account @bbpoltergiest (display name: Ꭰeath Ꮹrips), which sent out the following message late last night (December 15):

we're going on tour

We can't be totally sure that this Twitter account is actually associated with Death Grips — it's not officially verified — although Stereogum points to some fairly strong evidence to suggest that it is. Over the months, the account has sent out images from music videos before they were released and posted email screencaps appearing to be from the band-operated deathgrips@gmail.com. The account has nearly 3,000 followers.

Adding to the strangeness of the whole thing is the fact that, back in September, the person behind the account wrote this:

everyone thinks we broke up but we didnt.

Of course, we already knew that Death Grips would be finishing off their double album The Powers That B with the second half, titled Jenny Death. They released a video for the Jenny Death track "Inanimate Sensation" just last week.

Whether or not the Twitter account is actually them, we still can't be sure if any of this is real. After all, Death Grips are notorious trolls, even going so far as to book gigs and not show up to them. We'll just have to see how this plays out.
