"Some Velvet Morning" (ft. Cherie Currie) (Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra cover)
Instead of embracing the cinematic, symphony strings-assisted approach of the original, Danzig recasts the track as a brooding, downcast and distorted monstrosity. His baritone is especially gloomy on the cut, and former Runaways singer Cherie Currie offers up a raspy blues growl in lieu of Sinatra's gossamer calls.
You can sample the questionable redo over here.
Danzig rolled through Toronto and Montreal this past weekend as part of his Danzig with Doyle tour, but has another Canadian gig lined up August 27 at Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom.
