Counterparts Announce 'Tragedy Will Find Us,' Share "Burn" Video

Last month, Ontario melodic hardcore bruisers Counterparts announced that they had signed with New Damage Records in Canada (and Pure Noise Records in the U.S.) for a new album. And while further information surrounding the LP wasn't available at the time, the band have now confirmed the details of their impending album.

The disc is titled Tragedy Will Find Us, and it will be out on July 24. It's the follow-up to 2013's The Different Between Hell and Home, and it apparently touches on raw emotions and aggressive sounds.

"Tragedy Will Find Us is a record about my life falling apart. Simple as that," frontman Brendan Murphy said in a statement. "Lyrically, it represents me at rock bottom. But I feel like when you hit that low, you have nowhere to go but up. Counterparts has always been about coping with everything life throws at you, and it's no different with this release. Tragedy will find all of us eventually, and it's up to you to claw your way out."

Scroll past the 11-song tracklist below to watch a video for "Burn." It builds from a quiet intro to a pummelling hardcore assault (before downshifting in the soft outro), and we see black and white footage of the band performing live. It was filmed by Joshua Halling.

Murphy said about the song, "It has all the elements that the people who care about the band know and love. It's a good segue into this new chapter of the band. The same Counterparts you're all familiar with, but with a little extra kick. Kinda like Flamin' Hot Cheetos... or even Vanilla Coke."

The album is available to pre-order on CD or coloured vinyl right here.
