Cold Specks

'Neuroplasticity' (album stream)

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 22, 2014

There certainly hasn't been a lack of Neuroplasticity songs spun ahead of the album's release, with Cold Specks having unveiled her Michael Gira collaboration "Season of Doubt" just yesterday. Before the record officially arrives August 25 through Arts & Crafts/Mute, the doom soul singer has now delivered a full stream of the set to enjoy over the weekend.

We've already reported on the "sinisterly deep harmonies" of "Exit Plan" and the "slow-mo crush" and "skronked sax madness" of "Bodies at Bay". The stream also reveals a distorted shuffle and Al Spx's spell-casting vibrato on "A Broken Memory," the soul-enveloping mysticism of "Old Knives" and the uplifting, sticktoitiveness-minded "Let Loose the Dogs."

You can stream the set in full via the player down below. Do it while you read Exclaim!'s new interview with Spx over here.
