Calexico

"Falling from the Sky" (video)

José González is taking a quick moment away from the promotion of his Vestiges and Claws LP to sit for breakfast with a sibling of sorts. You can see how they get along in the new video for Calexico's Edge of the Sun single "Falling from the Sky."

Directed by Mikel Cee Karlsson, it stars a forever-puckering, especially wrinkly "creature" literally attached González. There's a bit of lopsidedness to the relationship, judging by how one carries the other around in a box. He's also forced to clean up during milky morning meal mishaps. The frustration of the dependent is palpable by the end of the clip, ultimately upsetting the sunny, brass-happy soundtrack supplied by Calexico.

Karlsson said in a statement that he wanted to show a "creature that is stuck in its codependency and has rather few possibilities in this world but still has the capacity to dream of better things." A second video for a González number will flip the perspective.

For now, you can see the wormy wiggler sorting out his side of the situation down below.
