Black Sabbath Announce "The End" Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Sep 3, 2015

It's been about a year since Black Sabbath began to sketch out plans for their final tour, but it looks like the end is here. The Birmingham, UK-bred gods of gloom have announced their farewell tour.

The trip, ominously dubbed "The End," was announced today (September 3). Proposing to put closure on a long-running career, the trek is being billed as "the final tour by the greatest metal band of all time."

"It started nearly five decades ago with a crack of thunder, a distant bell ringing and then that monstrous riff that shook the earth," a press release reads, alluding to Black Sabbath's titular theme song, which was the opening track from their self-titled debut from 1970. "When this tour concludes, it will truly be the end of one of most legendary bands in rock'n'roll history...Black Sabbath."

Though the complete tour route has yet to be unveiled, so far it's been revealed that original members Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler will begin this final round of black masses early next year, out in Omaha, NE. The North American portion of the trip will wind up in Canada for shows in Saskatoon, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Hamilton and Montreal.

Additionally, the band will be making their way through Australia and New Zealand in the spring. More concert appearances are expected to be revealed at a later date.

Though it hasn't been outlined how, the press release notes that the tour "promises to surpass all previous tours with their most mesmerizing production ever."

Black Sabbath had previously announced that they'll deliver on last album before they call it a day, marking the first output from the band since 2013's comeback collection, 13. Details on the allegedly forthcoming LP are pending.
