After hitting up a ridiculous number of summer festivals, Black Mountain have announced a fresh string of North American tour dates. Starting later this month, the BC retro rockers will be performing throughout Canada and the U.S., stopping in Victoria, Toronto and Montreal along the way. As we previously reported, the band will also be the "special guests at Vancouvers Stanley Park Singing Exhibition, where they will play alongside the New Pornographers, Belle and Sebastians Stevie Jackson and 1990s.
And while all the upcoming dates still come in support of Black Mountain massive rock-reviving epic, In the Future, sources close to the bands main beardo, Stephen McBean, have told Exclaim! hes recently been in the studio recording new tracks as Pink Mountaintops. There is no word, however, of when McBean might have his new side-project material ready for public consumption but he is working on it.
In other Black Mountain news, the band have recently made their way onto the Polaris Music Prize shortlist, where they are up against other Canadian artists such as Holy Fuck, the Weakerthans, Caribou and Stars. Also, Black Mountain released a new video today for the synth-driven trip "Wucan, from In the Future. The video, which was largely filmed by the band, can be seen here.
