The ever reliable RVNG Intl. imprint is back with another new group. The act is called Bing & Ruth, and they've just prepared their debut LP for the label called Tomorrow Was the Golden Age.
Led by pianist David Moore, who formed the group while attending NYC's New School in the mid-2000s, Bing & Ruth is a seven-piece ensemble featuring two upright bassists, two clarinetists, a cellist and a tape delay technician. The project draws inspiration from the likes of Morton Feldman, Gavin Bryars and Steve Reich.
In a press release, Moore says the album was driven by contrasts. "I wanted to take something from the darkness to the light and observe what that process would result in," he explained.
Tomorrow Was the Golden Age will surface on October 14 via RVNG. The first taste of the album, a stunning track called "The Towns We Love Is Our Town," can be streamed below.
