Beirut Return with 'No No No' Album

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jun 1, 2015

Worldly sonic explorers Beirut have remained relatively silent since 2011's The Rip Tide, which happened to land them an Exclaim! cover story. Four years later, the group have finally announced plans for a new release.

The album is called No No No, and a press release explains that it was recorded by band leader Zach Condon in Brooklyn, with assistance from bassist Paul Collins and drummer Nick Petree.

No No No was recorded in the aftermath of a breakdown Condon experienced in 2013, as well as his recent divorce. "For the first time in my life, I was facing extreme self doubt," Condon said. "I had hit rock bottom."

It's not all doom and gloom, however. Condon has since started a new relationship and has a new handle on life. "Having a positive presence like her both provides a healthy guiding force and shines a light on all the negative things in your life.... I definitely wouldn't be where I am now without her."

No No No will arrive on September 11 via 4AD. The album's title track can be streamed below.

Beirut will also embark on a large world tour later this year, complete with a handful of Canadian stops. The full itinerary is available below.
