Soulful Vancouver sextet the Ballantynes are set to issue their Dark Drives,Life Signs LP in a couple of weeks, but you can get some of the hard-shimmying sonics ahead of time via the unveiling of the set's "Argent." You can stream the new tune online now.
The track is another solid rave-up from the ensemble, rife with on-the-beat guitar plinking, jubilant and jittery beats, and "ooh-ooh" backups befitting any number of Northern Soul-styled classics. There's a bit of a psychedelic edge too, with Jarrod O'Dell's gruff vocals coming equipped with mind-expanding echo, and a rumbling of conga drums coursing through the speakers.

Dark Drives, Life Signs, which follows the outfit's Liquor Store Gun Store Pawn Shop Church, lands August 7 via La Ti Da Records.
