New York pop outsider Autre Ne Veut (a.k.a. Arthur Ashin) will soon follow 2013's Anxiety with the forthcoming Age of Transparency LP. The album's material was originally recorded with a jazz group, then deconstructed in the studio. For a better look at the process, the album's lead single "World War Pt. 2" has now been shared in its original jazz form.
The song was recorded at Manhattan's Avatar Studios with the Hazelrigg Brothers jazz trio. Ashin took the sessions home and turned them into Age of Transparency, but in the spirit of transparency, the original version is now available. Ultimately, it stands on its own as an impressive piece of music and proves that Ashin's compositions are equally arresting without all of his studio trickery.
Listen to the jazz version of "World War Pt. 2" below. Age of Transparency lands on October 2 via Downtown.
