More than a month ago, photos emerged from an apparent Montreal recording session featuring EDM titans Diplo and Skrillex (who make up Jack Ü) and Arcade Fire's Win Butler and Régine Chassagne. While it wasn't clear exactly what the musicians had planned, the Jack Ü producers have now confirmed that a collaborative release is indeed in the works.
Diplo and Skrillex talked about the project on the PBS interview show Charlie Rose. "We went to Montreal and we had a day off with Arcade Fire," Diplo said of the jam. "[We] literally played for 20 minutes, just everybody on an instrument. I got the files from them and now I edited down these loops, in little pieces, and I'm going to probably go back to Montreal with the lead singer Win and maybe Sonny [Moore, a.k.a. Skrillex] and record vocals on it."
Skrillex added, "We just jammed on live instruments for like 45 minutes and probably made an album worth of material and then cut it down to some parts we're going to later finish."

This collaboration is rather surprising, given that Arcade Fire have previously had some not-so-nice things to say about EDM. In 2014, deadmau5 called them out on Twitter over comments that the group made at Coachella, when they gave props to "all the bands playing instruments this weekend."
