Apple Reportedly Planning to Bundle Beats Streaming Service into iOS

The tech world's biggest businesses are trying to stake out a piece of the rapidly expanding streaming music market. Not only has Google rolled out its YouTube Music Key in beta mode, Apple is now apparently preparing to include a built-in streaming service in its iOS operating system next year.

This is evidently Apple's attempt to resurrect its floundering Beats Music streaming service, which it purchased earlier this year as part of a $3 billion buyout. Rumours had previously indicated that the service might be closed or rebranded.

But sources told the Financial Times that the paid-for service could appear as a standard-issue app on iPhones and iPads as early as March 2015. Reuters pointed out that, before this happens, Beats Music is likely be rebranded — presumably under its iTunes umbrella.

Apple hasn't yet commented on these reports. It's not a surprise that it's trying to push into the streaming market, since digital downloads have been in decline in 2014.
