Finnish cello metal group Apocalyptica have added more spring tour dates to help support their forthcoming Shadowmaker LP, with a newly announced batch of headlining shows taking place between May and June.
The group had already booked a trip supporting Mötley Crüe offshoot Sixx: A.M. in April and will play Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre on April 23 as part of that trek. A press release now notes that the band will take a few weeks off before getting back on the road for their next stretch of shows. Starting in the end of May, the headlining leg will have them hitting Canadian stages in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon and London.
Apocalyptica will be supported on these dates by Vancouver metal act Art of Dying. You'll find the details on all of the shows down below.
The group's Shadowmaker LP hits stores April 21 via Eleven Seven Music. It's the band's eighth album overall. While previous LPs had the act bringing in multiple guest vocalists, Shadowmaker was sung solely by Franky Perez, who is touring with the band.
"I love Franky's voice," cellist/songwriter Eicca Toppinen said in a statement. "He's not just a regular singer. He has a very soulful sound and he's able to sing different styles, which is perfect for Apocalyptica, because our songs are not only heavy metal, it's a variety of different colors and different dynamics, and the singer needs to match that, and I think Franky is a perfect match."
