After tackling stages with a pair of keyboards and spectacularly spectral vocal harmonies, Vancouver electro-pop duo Fake Tears have announced that they've linked up with Mint Records to issue their debut LP. Titled Nightshifting, the album arrives in retailers August 7.
A press release notes that band members Larissa Loyva and Elisha May Rembold have put together a "simultaneously spooky and infectious" nine-song debut, which was produced by Jay Arner. The tracks were initially demoed by Loyva and Rembold using a pair of microKORG keyboard, but later embellished upon with the use of Arner's various vintage synths.
The set is said to showcase various ghostly hooks, "classic teen movie keyboards," and an appreciation for electro-pop and R&B. Thematically, Nighshifting deals with "love and loss," but apparently still keeps things playful.

Prior to Fake Tears, Loyva had issued music on Mint as part of P:ano, the Choir Practice, and under her solo guise, Kellarissa. Remboldt's musical pedigree includes Lost Lover's Brigade and Shimmering Stars, while both Fake Tears members have also performed as part of Adrian Teacher's COOL TV project.
