Martin Scorsese is no stranger to the music industry, having contributed to the music film canon with classics like The Last Waltz, No Direction Home: Bob Dylan, Shine a Light and George Harrison: Living in the Real World. Now he's set to bring some more musically inclined subject matter to the small screen with a new HBO series called Vinyl.

Co-produced by the Rolling Stones' frontman Mick Jagger and Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter, the fictional drama series delves into the New York music industry of the 1970s, focusing on the excessive lifestyle of record exec Richi Finestra (played by Bobby Cannavale) as he tries to bring his company back to life.

The show debuts in January, but you can get a taste of the over-indulgence right now by watching the sex, drugs and rock'n'roll-fuelled trailer below.
