Adam Sandler has been mercilessly stretching the definition of the word "comedy" for decades, but his latest project is most certainly the least funny thing he's ever done. As we reported yesterday, approximately one dozen native actors walked out on the film set due to insensitive cultural depictions. If, for some reason, you didn't believe them, some grim "jokes" from the film's screenplay have leaked online.
Defamer obtained a copy of the screenplay which dates back to December 7, 2012. It's technically possible that the script has changed since then, but that would require you to believe that Adam Sandler movies receive rewrites in order to be better.
The site published six excerpts from the script, and they easily corroborate the actors' suggestion that they were disrespectful to native cultures and practices.
The film follows Sandler as a man named Tommy who was raised by Native Americans. He's married to a woman named Smoking Fox, and that's just the first of many groan-worthy joke names in the film.
Below you'll find other offensive passages from the screenplay, but be warned that they're disgustingly disrespectful and painfully unfunny.
The Ridiculous Six is currently being shot for release on Netflix. A representative from the company denied the film was offensive, telling Deadline, "The movie has ridiculous in the title for a reason: because it is ridiculous.... It is a broad satire of Western movies and the stereotypes they popularized, featuring a diverse cast that is not only part of — but in on — the joke."
